#HeartAttack Information You May Not Know

What to do if you have a Heart Attack when you are alone

#SafetyFirst #Healthcare #Selfcare (Literally!)

#HeartHealth #TheMoreYouKnow : )

I just got this from my lovely nurse friend, Susan - I've taken so many CPR and First Aid Classes and have the Certificates, and I've never heard this advice, so maybe you haven't heard it, either...

I would add that I always keep some Baby Aspirin, the delicious little orange tablets, right beside my bed, just in case... even a headache in the middle of the night, you could reach over and chew one... But, I would try to take a Baby Aspirin (never for babies, up to the age of 25, for Aspirin, for my little friends! lol!), right away, but not if it interfered with the Deep Breaths and Coughing - do that, first...

And this is good info, for anyone, any time, God Forbid you should find yourself or a loved one, or anyone, struggling to breathe or with sudden chest pains... and call 911

And advocate with your gov't to make sure your Ambulance Service is free - too many people might not call, if they think there's a big bill waiting for them, if they call for help - that is not okay, in this day and age...

1. Let’s say it’s 7.25pm and you’re going home (alone of course) after an unusually hard day on the job.
2. You’re really tired, upset and frustrated.
3 Suddenly you start experiencing severe pain in your chest that starts to drag out into your arm and up in to your jaw. You are only about five km from the hospital nearest your home.
4. Unfortunately you don’t know if you’ll be able to make it that far.
5. You have been trained in CPR, but the guy who taught the course did not tell you how to perform it on yourself.
6. HOW TO SURVIVE A HEART ATTACK WHEN ALONE? Since many people are alone when they suffer a heart attack without help, the person whose heart is beating improperly and who begins to feel faint, has only about 10 seconds left before losing consciousness.
7. However, these victims can help themselves by coughing repeatedly and very vigorously. A deep breath should be taken before each cough, and the cough must be deep and prolonged, as when producing sputum from deep inside the chest. A breath and a cough must be repeated about every two seconds without let-up until help arrives, or until the heart is felt to be beating normally again.
8. Deep breaths get oxygen into the lungs and coughing movements squeeze the heart and keep the blood circulating. The squeezing pressure on the heart also helps it regain normal rhythm. In this way, heart attack victims can get to a hospital.
9. Tell as many other people as possible about this. It could save their lives!!
10. A cardiologist says If everyone who gets this mail kindly sends it to 10 people, you can bet that we’ll save at least one life.
11. Rather than sending jokes, please... contribute by forwarding this mail which can save a person’s life. (Jokes are okay, too - you know I love a great laugh!)
12. If this message comes around you... more than once… please don’t get irritated... You should instead, be happy that you have many friends who care about you & keeps reminding you how to deal with a Heart attack.

And I made a Love Heart Tree for my Mum - we all love my Mum's Heart!!

Here's another wee thing... Open Up Your Heart to Love - from yourself, as well as to and from others - Be gentle with yourself and others, and that will really go a long way to keeping your heart healthy, too - than, and diet and exercise, but, I feel like the feelings thing is even more important - jus' an inkling! lol! https://buildyourownhousebodylife.blogspot.ca/2014/11/louisehay-you-can-heal-your-life.html

You know I love you, and I want you to be Happy and Healthy (and Independently Wealthy! lol!) Ailsa!! xoxo!! : )

It's way faster, and waaay easier, than you've been led to believe, fo' sho'!
Me show you how! : )

Yay!! This me, now! yippee!!

55 Into Overdrive! lol! ; )

Beach Body Workout

You know, this workout will whip you into shape, for any time of the year! lol!

#Fun #Easy #ItWorks #Fitness #Gym #ExerciseRoutine

I'll be your Free Personal Trainer! Yay!! : )

(Oh, and just in case you're Brand New to advertising, I get a li'l somethin' somethin' from anything you happily purchase through my blog - Thank You!)
My new-to-me Rowing Machine!! Yay!!

Yahoo! My Rowing Machine is Working Wonders - and it'll do the same thing for you, too - and I've only had my Rowing Machine for a few months - if that... just shows you, rowing is the most effective exercise to lose weight and get a really good overall body workout, and it's easy on the knees and joints, too : )

Sometimes you can really luck in and get some great gym equipment you can use quickly and easily, right at home! Yippee!

I love the Rowing Machine the very best, of all the gym equipment, because a Rowing Machine will give you a full body workout, legs, arms, back, torso, tummy (abs) - you name it, it'll get a good work out, and you'll be in great shape before you know it! : )

AND, a Rowing Machine is very easy on your joints, which is critical as you get a little older (I just turned 55, so I have to be aware o' mah' knees, where I didn't think about that, all that much, before...)

PLUS (because I already said, AND - haha!), Age Schmage - when you exercise and take good care of your body, stay youthful in your mind (Age is a Mindset, I firmly believe that ; ), you can look pretty much the same right through from your 30's - why don't they tell people THAT li'l tidbit, eh? lol! Well, here I am, here to tell you, you can look fantastic, for your WHOLE Life, Baby-Cakes! Yippee!!

Keep that body movin'! And a'shakin'! (Shake 'n Bake, for adults - haha!)

And if you want to lose some weight, too, while you're getting yourself all nice and fit and toned, start your #OatmealChallenge - it really does work, and you'll easily drop however much weight you want to drop - just one bowl of Oatmeal Porridge a day, you'll be well on your way to your perfect body!
https://buildyourownhousebodylife.blogspot.ca/2012/04/scottish-porridge-eat-yer-oatmeal-lose.html
In case you want to pick up your own equipment and whatnot! : )

You' Welcome! I'm happy to help! : )

Pull Down Machine
My very favorite Machine for a good overall workout, that doesn't necessarily take all that long - although, I do spend a lot of time on this machine, doing a variety of exercises - lol!

Heyyoo!! It's me, it's Ailsa! I love to work out at the gym, I love my fave gym 'n swim, and I've been a Personal Trainer, or, qualified as a personal trainer, for over 30 years - really, where did all those years go by? lol!

Anyway, my whole goal in the gym is to get in, get a great and effective workout, I'm not interested in anything that doesn't work - who has time for that?

I thought I'd just share my own Workout Routine with you, which I have to modify, depending on the gym - I haven't found a really good gym, here, in Victoria, BC, just yet - it's always missing something - the right machines, or happy people... but, that's another story - sort of!

I want you to be happy to go to the gym, or, at least, happy to be there, once you get there : )
and, I say this to myself, pretty much every day,

A little workout is better than no workout...

That seems to get me TO the gym, and then I just do the full workout - except when I'm doing the Gym 'n Swim in our own complex, then, when we see that there's no one in the pool, I quickly wrap up my gym session, head straight to the pool, where I swim laps (gentle, fun laps - nothing crazy for me - lol! Fun, first!) for about 30 minutes, then jog, knees up, use your arms, in the water until we feel like leaving - lol!

And then I love to do that floaty, bounce like a butterfly, in the pool, at the end of every swim - is fun and makes me happy! lol!

Okay, let's start with the machines I like the most, that will make major changes in your body, very quickly, much faster than the usual fitness classes, steppers, treadmills... and my personal fave, the old fashioned Rowing Machine - not the new one, with hydraulics - nope - I love the one with the bar you can hold onto, your spinnin' that wheel like a mad man (or, mad woman! haha!)

They're all great, if you love them, but if you want to significantly change your body, shape your body, weight lifting is the way to go - men already know this, but for women, it's even more effective at getting rid of that stubborn fat (now why is fat so stubborn?? All it has to do is be kind, melt down, slide right out, let us be the size we wanna be, right? haha! Right!)

Also, you can do these exercises at any age - I always advise people, especially women, to start at the lowest amount of weight, for weight lifting, when you're using the machines at the gym - start at 10 pounds, if that's just too easy, go to 20, do 10 to 20 reps, see how that feels, do 3 sets of those 20 reps, see how that feels...

Always, you're checking yourself to see how that feels...

Weightlifting should never be painful - if it hurts, stop doing it, make sure you're using the equipment properly, lessen the amount of weight on the machine.

And the weight machines should feel nice - think of it as a very nice stretch, with a kick, so, you'll be stretching your muscles, they'll looove that, and building them a fair bit, at the same time.

The increase use of your muscles will help burn fat, you'll lose weight, tighten your skin, get rid of any cellulite, increase your stamina - it's amazing! I love it!

And you'll love the results - so much fun to fit into your favorite outfits, again! Yippee!!

You Did It!

You're Doin' It! lol! ; )

Good For You! (For real, very good for you!! : )

It can be pretty intimidating to walk into a gym, especially if this is a new environment for you, but even for me, and I've been a weightlifter for 33 years - wow! I love it! : )

Some of the new equipment is absolute crap, based on aesthetics, and not functionality, so, if you're looking for a gym, try the equipment, if it looks too weird, too fancy, and make sure you're comfortable in it - I hate the new equipment where you're always leaning back, never sitting up straight, straight back - that's too stooopid for words, too prone to injury, and that's not gonna make you healthier and happier - so, choose a gym with good prices, good equipment, and hopefully a good attitude (that's so hard to find, in some places, easy to find in others... good luck on that one - lol!)

First, men can use any and all of the equipment, with great results, men are kind of a no-brainer in the gym - lucky men!

Women can, of course, use any of the equipment, too, but these are the pieces that work the best for my body - right now, I'm focused on getting myself back into my old shape - a little ironic that I want to look like my 40's self - every decade, I make sure I get my body back into it's favorite shape - or, as close to that as I can, and I'm 54, right now - yahoo! 54, Get It More? haha! I can't remember what we were chanting at my birthday - a li'l ironic! hahaha!

But, it's age-schmage, at the gym - get in, strengthen your body, your bones will even strengthen, your balance will be amazing - it's all for a great, healthy and happy life! Yippee!!

Start with some nice stretches, arms up and over your head, you can say some nice affirmations when you're doing your stretches, but you don't have to - lol!

And I stretch in between sets - arms, when I'm working on my arms and back, and legs, all the time - whatever stretches you like best : )
Arms, Shoulders, Back (Oh, my!)

Do you love Michelle Obama's arms? Me, too - and I love to wear spaghetti straps, and pretty little dresses, soooo... I need to have nice arms, and I noticed, after the winter, I needed to really hammer it home with my arms and back, right away, so, my first stop at the gym is...

The Arms - Pull Down Bar

I use the long bar, and I do 5 separate exercises on this machine, alone

Grip the bar from a standing position, carefully lower yourself to the seat, feet on the floor

  • I place my hands about 16 inches apart, knuckles out (sounds like my street name, ol' knuckles out - haha!)  I start at 20 pounds or 30 pounds, depending on the machine, and, frankly, I do 50 to 100 reps at the light weight - this is a good warm up for me
  • Flip your hands around, so, knuckles to the back, grip the bar, same amount of weight, this is another warm up for your muscles - 30 - 50 reps, stand up to reposition your hands
  • Knuckles to the front, again - I'm a little callous in the gym, sometimes, since I've been using this equipment for so long, so either stand back up to change to another foot apart, on each side, or 'jump' your arms down - If you're in the 'middle' of the bar, about 16" apart, move your hands down another foot, each side, do 20 - 30 reps
  • Hands on the end of the bar, in the 'designated area', the regular handles, do 10 -30 reps
  • Stand up and spin around - not an actual spin - lol! Back up over the seat, hands up and grasp the bar up and behind you, carefully pull the bar down as you sit down, backward on the machine, pull the bar behind your head, head tilted slightly forward - 10- 30 reps
  • Then I repeat that pattern, but with increasing weights, usually 30 to 50 pounds, depending on the machine - some machines are smoother than other machines, but always do what is right for you : )
  • Then I do shorter sets of 10 to 15, at a higher weight, if I want to build the muscle, usually 3 sets of 10 to 15 reps, 60 pounds

So, even though that might sound like a lot, and I guess it sort of does, it's all changeable, you're going to do what is right for your own body : )

And I do like to beast it, at the gym - lol! Dat just me! haha! so far, so good! : )

Lots of Arm Stretches, and now I'm on to Legs, so, leg stretches, here, too : )

Inner Thigh Machine

This is an interesting machine, so I hope you can find a gym with this magical little Thigh Machine!

You can do a variety of exercises on this machine, but I use it for Inner Thigh

  • Set the weight - start light, move up as you can, but do a set of 30, first, see how that feels, move up if that's too easy
  • The little pull-out knob will let you flip the leg bar over from one side to the other, so you'll set it at the height of your hip, lock it in place, set your weight, swing your leg up onto the bar, so your ankle is on the bar, hold on, swing your leg down in front of your other leg, one smooth movement - do 10 - 30 reps
  • Switch sides, pull out the little knob, swing the bar over to the opposite side, same thing, leg up onto the bar, at your ankle, swing down in front of your other leg, 10 - 30 reps
  • If you feel like it, increase the weight, try 10- 20 reps, how does that feel?
  • Increase the weight, again, if you like, another 20 reps, so, 3 sets, 10 to 30 reps a set
  • Gorgeous legs in no time! lol!

(BRB - be right back - I'm coloring my hair, right now - gotta go rinse it out - lol! There's another thing you can do to stay young and lovely! I always go for Blonde, but, if you already know me, you already know that, too! lol! ; )

Start with the lowest weight, always, move up as you're able, no matter what anyone else says or thinks - it's your body, don't mess with it - if it's super easy, no problemo, just move the pin to the next weight down, do 10 to 20 reps, 3 sets (times) : )

I stand up in between sets, swing my legs, stretch them back : )

Carefully get your ankles on top of the lower bar, and under the top bar - ask for help, if you need it, be safe at the gym : )

Same thing as always, 10 to 20 reps, 3 sets stretch between each set : )

Pull up stack - also can look like just a handle at the bottom of a Universal Gym - stand to the front, lift for 20, turn to the side, lift for 10-20, to the side, like you're a little tea cup (short and stout - but not for long, baby! haha!)

Turn your body, to the other side, more reps... you get the drill - always with the more reps - lol!

Leg Pres - omg, me yuv! What a great machine - if you're super lucky, and you find a great gym with a leg press that is completely flat, that you can lay on your back and do the Leg Presses, do them for your abs, is ah'mazing... do 50 to a 100, lighter weights, for abs...

But that's a hard machine to come across, usually they'll be on the ground, and you'll place your own weights on either side, remove the little bar holder, push up with your feet...

Or, the Leg Press will look a lot like this one, and you'll put your feet in a V shape, about a foot apart, push yourself back...

And then, especially for women, if you want nice smooth legs, especially the inner knee and thigh, keep your feet in a V shape, place about 3 feet apart, and always toward the bottom of the board... some people go to the top - do that if you relaly want to, but this is how I do them...

Then you'll put your feet back to the starting position, V Shape, about a foot apart, then make your feet straight, another set, then on your toes, sort of, on the balls of your feet, carefully lift, like that, another set...

And, as always, up between your sets - I do all of those lifts, in sequence, then get up to stretch, increase the weight.

I do way fewer reps when I'm lifting the top amount of weight I want to lift, but lower weights, you can do as many reps as you feel like doing : )

Is a great stretch, too : )

These are very important machines for women in the gym, and is beyond stooopid when a gym doesn't bother to have these - not female friendly, when a gym skips these machines - the Adductor and Abductor ...

The Thigh Machines, me calls them - too annoying to remember the difference between Abductor and Adductor

Do not, not, not, force yourself with the weights on either machine, you will put yourself in a position to hurt yourself very badly, and you will no likes that! Yeowch! So, be super careful, and you should never feel like you HAVE to lift any amount of weight - you're only at the gym for your own self, so, you get to be completely in charge - and don't listen to anyone who says they know your body better than you do - nope. You know it all, baby! Do what's right for you : )

I do 30 pounds for 50 reps, move up to 40 pounds, 20 - 50 reps... you know the drill.. lots of stretching in between the sets : )

Do that for both machines : )

And THEN, go ahead and do your cardio machines - I don't like to see people waste all their energy (not WASTE, but, you know, don't knock yourself out on the cardio, then be too tired for the real machines, the ones that will truly make a huge difference in how you look, machines that really WILL slim you down, get you in the shape you really want to be in -

The cardio is good for your heart, definitely good for weight loss, but, it's the combo that works the best, and not true that you 'have' to start with cardio - no - start with stretches, then machines, gently, then more 'aggressively', sort of - don't like that word - seriously... I dunno... just don't waste your precious energy on something that you can do at the end of your workout, see how that works for you, see if you like the results, way better : )

So, I like to do 20 - 30 minutes on the Rowing Machine, it's my favorite, favorite, favorite!! Yay!! so much fun!

And if you can set your Rowing Machine up so you can watch a show while you're rowing, all the better, the time will fly by! lol!

And you're gonna look so great! Yahoo!! Hello, Great Body! Hello, Beach Body Workout! lol!

(That's a lot o' 'Ands'! haha)

And, jus' so you know, I think every body, no matter what anyone else might think, is a Beach Body, if you feel like going to the beach, and wear anything you want!

Be comfy and Happy, that's the very best thing you can do for yourself! : )

Your li'l Gym Buddy, Ailsa! : ) xoxo!

Oh, darn it - I forgot to tell you my favorite end of my workout - I love to swim laps for 30 - 50 minutes, then some running in the pool, 'n whatnot - just enjoy yourself, whatever you love to do!

LOL! Here I am - man, so pleased wit' mah'self - did a whole hour in the pool of laps - gentle laps - haha! I looove swimming (and swimming loves me? hahaha!)

The God Diet - If God Made It, You Can Eat It! lol! : ) THE Friendliest, Happiest Diet, Evah'! #TheGodDiet #PotatoChips!

The God Diet

If God Made It, You Can Eat It! lol! : ) THE Friendliest, Happiest Diet, Evah'!

Clearance Items: Up to 50% off Select Ghirardelli Chocolates. Thanks, God, for the delicious Chocolate! lol! Yum!

Okay, so I've thought of this for years and years, but sometimes I'm really struck by how incredible our Universe is, how amazingly intricate and phenomenal our world is, the sheer beauty and symmetry of nature....

Take these apples (please! haha! Jus' reminds me of that old 'Take my wife....please! lol!)

Anyway, when I slice the apples in half - or, in thirds, today, even easier! lol! But when I slice an apple in half, I am blown away by the design - a Grand Design,if you will... it's gorgeous, and I am soo blown away by seeds, and seed dispersal... (make me think of a man who really gets around - bah'hahahaha! Or seeds on a tree - whatevs... we're all just seeds, sprouted out! I looove that!

You, Me and an Apple Seed!

You, Me, and an Apple Tree!

We All Come From a Seed - You, Me, an Apple and a Tree!

Anyway, I've been singing that all morning - lol! Life in my head - haha!

I just took the Apple Crumble out the oven - smells amazing in here - yum! If I could just get everyone to give this little Apple Crumble a try, think how much happier and healthier our whole world would be!

So here's what makes me call it The God Diet - I really believe that if it grows naturally, it's good for you. It was designed for you to eat - and be healthy, soooo, why not work with what comes naturally, whenever and wherever you can, right?

Oatmeal is one of my favorite things - add it where you can, see if that will make you feel good - if you have any reaction, skip that, try something else, but generally speaking, Oatmeal and Grains are very good for you - there are really only a handful of people who can't manage grains, that seems like more of a media thing, right now - but if it works for you, Oatmeal is very Heart Healthy, great for 'cleaning out your system' - err... you know what I mean! lol! But Oatmeal will act like a little broom, sweeping out your system, cleaning it all up - is amazing! Thanks, God! I love it!

Yum, Thanks, God, for all the great veggies! This is my favorite #MacaroniSalad

You get soo excited, when you get a bite with a little macaroni, and a whole lot o' da Veggies!

Well,  have a ton o' delicious and easy to make recipes on my blog - and on my site, but I can't seem to access my website - so frustrating - it's live and online, over 1.7 million visits, but there's something that is blocking me from getting onto my site from this computer, for me to work on it, so, my blog is my focus, right now.... sooo.... hm, have to figure that out, fo' sho'!

Anyhoooo, you can scroll through all the pics on my Blog, find whatever delicious recipe you're looking for... you'll love them all, I love anything that's delicious and pretty easy and fast to make, AND, super-healthy! : )

Bottom line, try to minimize artificial ingredients, where you can (not to be nutty about it, some artificial ingredients are deeelicious! haha!), and try to add lots of yummy fruits and veggies, wherever you can - Yum! Thanks, God! Good Job!! : )

Yum, look what I just thought of having - was soo good!

Cucumbers and Taco Meat - Simple and Delicious!

So here's how I happened to think of this new flavor combo - years ago, at a Queen's Alumni Party in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, they had these most delicious little hors d'oeuvres (hor-derves, if you will - I have another li'l joke, but it just goes downhill fro here, sooo.... hopefully, you're already making that joke, in yer own head - haha!) (Did you know the literal French meaning of hors d'oeuvres is 'outside the work' - or, and this is all me, now - not the main course - or maybe it is?? haha! Whatevs, just say, Something Delicious, a lovely little bite of something good!

Anyway, they had a slice of Cucumber, a few drops of Hot Sauce, and a lovely fresh Shrimp - yum!

Taco Meat - yum!
It was soo good, so, tonight I happened to think of a new way I can freeze the extra Taco Meat, that I make all at once, I get the giant package of Ground Meat (mince, if you're British - lol!), cook it all in the big pot, with a ton of Taco Seasoning - 8 tablespoons, maybe? I dunno, I pour it in... spicy is yummy! lol!

So I was standing in the kitchen, my son had already added some Taco Meat to the left over Lasagna - which was delicious - I did that, last night - yum!

Yum! Taco Spaghetti! Try it, you'll love it!
So my son had already eaten, and normally I would just make a batch of Taco Spaghetti, or regular Tacos, but we were all out of cheddar cheese, lettuce, salsa, tomatoes (I'm still waiting for them to grow, sooo, they'll be ready in just a few short months, and I'll have to eat something else between now and then - haha!)

Anyway, I'm standing in the kitchen, trying to think of something to have with the Taco Meat, and thought of this - and it was sooo good - yum! Light, delicious, did I already say light? haha! So good!

I just heated up the Taco Meat, put that in the center of the plate, then sliced the cucumber to put around the meat - all very lovely, then used the cucumber slices like little nacho chips - which would also have been delicious, just not as super-healthy! lol! Cucumber - it's Nacho usual chip - haha! I know, I'm sorry! haha! But it is good! Deelish!

Now I think I'm gonna add everything to little cucumber slices! lol! And perfect for a KETO or Paleo Diet, in case you're trying that out... : )

Well, here's something funny - this is the biggest plate of the Real Baked Potato Chips that I could get - the second they were ready, they were gone - dat make'a me happy!

And they all cooked at different times - I flipped them a bunch of times, to make them really crisp - yum!

So, they're just very thinly sliced potatoes - this was three potatoes - left over from our Thanksgiving Dinner - we don't eat potatoes very often, so, usually they grow their own legs, then I plant them out on the balcony - you can just pop potatoes in any soil, you'll have beautiful vines in no time, plus, new potatoes! Yay!

I'm gonna look up all the Health Benefits of Potatoes, since, really, it's all the frying and additives that you would want to avoid, for potato chips, not the actual potato - with a li'l Olive Oil and Salt : )

Here you go! But, you already knew there were lots of Health Benefits of Potatoes, right? That's what makes them soo delicious!

"... food ranking system qualified potatoes as a very good source of vitamin B6 and a good source of potassium, copper, vitamin C, manganese, phosphorus, niacin, dietary fiber, and pantothenic acid. Potatoes also contain a variety of phytonutrients that have antioxidant activity."

My son heated up some already cooked and frozen Taco Meat, and he added a li'l Salsa to that - this is the amount of meat I had...

And how much for the boy - lol! And hardly any chips left, by the time I got over to his place - hahaha! That's a VERY good sign of something delicious! lol!

See how some of them cook faster than the others? Just take them off the cookie sheet as they're ready... and flip them before you pop them back in - yum!

I just lightly covered the 'chips' with a little Oil - I used Olive Oil, but you could use any oil, or no oil - up to you, baby!

See how they're translucent? I tried to let them sit for a second, make them even crispier, but they were sooo delicious, as soon as I took each batch out the oven, they were gone - lol! Yum!

I gave them a little bit of Salt on them when they came out the oven, too - soooo good! : )

Grapes are from God, right? lol! ; )

CABBAGE LEAF Cure? Maaybe... : )

What about Cabbage Leaves? If you, God Forbid, had any sort of tumor on the outside of your body, wouldn't it be worth a shot to put a cabbage leaf over it, see if it would shrink the tumor, at all? It works for Nursing Mothers - is amazing how quickly and effectively a Cabbage Leaf works to remove a lump, from milk build up - sometimes that happens when you're nursing, and I think it happened to me after I had weaned my second baby... can't really remember the time frame, now, but I do remember the lump, how painful it was, and applying the cabbage leaf, BAM! All gone - like a little miracle cure, right there, and it just occurred to me, just now, what if that Cabbage Leaf Cure were to extend itself to other things, like a tumor? Worth a try, for sure : )

SO, I was just thinking, could Cabbage Leaves draw out any impurities in your body? Maybe?

What about fat cells? Could Cabbage Leaves Shrink Fat Cells? Why not, right, if it works the same way... anyone feel like doing a little experimenting? You KNOW I'm'a gonna try it - and then have a nice salad with the rest of the cabbage and turnip? haha!

And what about Turnips?? lol!
And then, when I think of Cabbage, I think of my Mother, and how much she loooves cabbage and turnip - all cooked, but I like them much better, raw... especially Raw Turnip - in little strips, or chunks - is surprisingly yummy - worth a try, for sure, if you've never tried it! So, of course, I immediately Googled, Health Benefits of Turnip, and wouldn't you know it, there's Cabbage, right there, too! lol! I was super-surprised to read about the health benefits of the turnip leaves, though - I'd never even heard that they were edible, sooo... you know, whatever you think will add health benefits to your life, is inexpensive, won't interact negatively with any medications - your pharmacist can tell you that, too, but I would think most fruits and veggies are safe enough... but you remember that whole thing with Grapefruit, which I looove... so, you know your body, best.... To Your Very Best Health! : )

Look who else loves Turnips?? Michelle Obama! Thanks, First Lady Michelle Obama!! You're the best!!

Turnip for What?? haha! I loove these pics! Haha! Get on the Veggie Train to Healthsville? hahaha! Makes me laugh! (And healthy! lol!)

Coleslaw with Walnuts - that's my favourite way to eat cabbage... just a liiitttle bit of mayonnaise, mix it in really well with your coleslaw mix, I use a LOT of pepper, and a little salt to taste, and a lot of Walnuts - yum! Is light and delicious, and super-healthy for your body! Yippee!

Yum, Brussel Sprouts - a much better way to cook them than boiling them - although, that's good, too - but this is my favorite way to cook Brussel Sprouts, now, and it 'holds in' all the nutrients, where boiling them (to a slow death? haha! Nooo... boil them if you want to boil them! lol!) - crazy-delicious, and really, Brussel Sprouts are just likte teensy tiny little cabbages, right? And I'm thinking you could slice down your cabbage, cook it the same way, would be delicious : )

You can use butter, margarine (okay, you got me, I only use margarine for baking, butter only for veggies - lol! Or Olive Oil, or a little combo of Olive Oil and Turkey 'juice', turkey drippings, if you will... you know, when the turkey comes out the oven, the 'gravy' that's in the pan - that has an amazing flavor, and is delicious in with the Brussel Sprouts, and then the Turkey Gravy that you really make, at the table, on your Brussel Sprouts - yum!

Yum! Deeelish, right? You'll looove your Brussel Sprouts, pan-fried, sauteed like this - so good!

Fighting cancer from http://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/284815.php

Since the 1980s, consuming high amounts of cruciferous vegetables like turnips, cauliflower and cabbage have been associated with a lower risk of cancer. More recently, researchers have been able to pinpoint that the sulforaphane compound that gives cruciferous vegetables their bitter bite is also what gives them their cancer-fighting power.
Promising results in studies testing sulforaphane's ability to delay or impede cancer have been seen with multiple types of cancers including melanoma, esophageal, prostate and pancreatic. Sulforaphane-containing foods could potentially be an integral part of cancer treatment in the future.1

Oh, man, what great memories, all the times taking a horse-drawn wagon through the Trees in the Spring, in Ontario,Canada, and then you end up at the Sugar shack, sit down for some delicious pancakes and fresh Maple Syrup - yum! So much fun! : )

So, I've been spending the whole evening (okay, now it's night time - after midnight - I just finished reading a bunch of articles, some on the up and up, some slightly questionable, a couple highly questionable...so, here's what I was checking out - I watched a video earlier, this evening, about DCA, dichloroacetate (crap, I wrote it down, now canny read my own writing - hmmm!! Will go check it, make sure I have the spelling correct...).  Anyway, my good friend, Steve, posted the video on Facebook (Facebook is NOT my friend, right now, on account of a horrible thing that happened on it in the fall, and every time I go on it to make sure nothing horrible and disgusting hasn't happened - not really a good reason for going on stupi fb, but I've got sooo many contacts on fb, that it makes it difficult to just delete my fb account... will wait and see, but if that horrendous this - some grooooosss creep in the middle east attached my name to a gross picture - was THE worst thing to deal with...)

Anyway, I digress... has never happened to me, before... lol!  So when I was reading all these articles on DCA, which is a potential drug for curing cancer (or perhaps some sorts of cancers?  Didn't get enough information on that...), and is a very cheap drug, and an old drug that can't be patented, from what I gather, so that means, essentially, that big pharmacy would make very little profit on it, if they were to conduct the research and development necessary to bring it to market, expressly as a cure for cancer.  The research has been done at the University of Edmonton, in Alberta, Canada (Dr. Evangelos Michelakis), in Florida, and some other universities, but it looks like most, if not all, of the research has taken place in the universities.  Soo, a lot of money is required to continue the Research and Development for DCA, so I hope the Canadian government, or the US gov't, or ANY gov't, any very lovely philanthropist, any university or even the big pharmaceutical companies or other companies could open their wallets for more research... is interesting, to be sure.

Broccoli Soup - Yum!
But here's an interesting thing - while I was poking around online, I found a lot of information about the connection between baking soda and curing cancer.  Sounds like a bit of a stretch, but if you've read my site, www.buildyourownhouse.ca, you'll know my great love of baking soda! lol!  That stuff rocks!  You can use it for a million things - it's great!  But to cure cancer??  Who knows??  But I DO know that if, God Forbid,  were ever facing anything like that, I would try anything, I'm sure of it. I am a home remedy girl, always have been, believe that good health is a great preventative medicine (you know I love that Broccoli Soup!! lol!), along with a nice healthy body... it's all good, and then you look good, too!  lol!
More Broccoli Soup - I love it!

So here's what I read about - I would be a bit reluctant to try this... hmmm, would have to really think about this, but apparently you can put about a 1/4 teaspoon of baking soda in a big glass of water, 12 - 16 oz.  That's a lot of water.  And I guess you can add Maple Syrup (we're Canadian, so no shortage of Maple Syrup in our fridge, at any time of the year! hahaha!), or Molasses (I'd have to go buy this, since I never did get around to making Gingerbread Cookies for Christmas! lol!), but these products are very inexpensive, would be easy to add into your diet, should you be so inclined.  Apparently, the sugar in the molasses or maple syrup (I'm guessing you'd add that to some heated water, too, like a tea, I'm thinking) (or just have waffles or pancakes?? lol!) goes to the cancer, and the baking soda is going to go in and clean the cells??

Oh, and this might help with heartburn, too, or so they suggested... I've never had heartburn, but it sounds like it hurts, so I think I would give this a try, just in case it worked... but, again, research all of this before you take a big swig o' baking soda water!

Hmmm... if you're thinking of trying this, for Goodness Sake research this yourself, I'm just saying that I find this very interesting, and it seems relatively harmless to try, just in case it works on any level...  but I wonder if it would work for anything else??  I am endlessly surprised that we haven't found a full cure for a virus - seems crazy, in this day and age.  Unless we have, and I don't know about it, yet?  Let me know, if you've got secret information - unless everyone knows it, and I'm the last to know! lol! But would this work with a virus??  If it can target the baddie cells, cause them to remove themselves from your system?  Any chance this could be effective in weight loss??  Hahaha!  I always want to know THAT!! Maybe just drinking all that water would do the trick!! I drink tea all day - wonder if I should try this baking soda and water thing? I'm already having maple syrup in the mornings I can't resist joining my son in his daily waffles with maple syrup! lol!  (But, usually, I have me fave Raisin Bran, then have my fave porridge later in the day...pretty healthy : )

Okay, just wanted to put this out there... see what you think, see if you've tried it, if you know of any health risks from ingesting baking soda.... hmmm, will really think about this before I try it.  It's supposed to balance out your alkaline level, your ph Balance, I think (makes me think of my shampoo! lol!) - but I'm pretty sure our bodies are really good at self-regulating all our levels of everything that keeps us going... but, still, something to think about, right??

Oh, and remember to breathe deeply, whenever you think of it, not just when you're exercising or meditating - or when you're really mad, trying to calm yourself down! lol!  Seems like when you add more oxygen to your system, that's a good thing - well, you know you canny hurt yourself with bigger breaths! (makes me think of a terrible joke, but you're prolly already thinking of it, too! lol!)

So, just as a wee follow-up, I was doing some more research on drinking Baking Soda (a 1/4 tsp. in a very big glass of water - although, a lot of the research suggests it's okay to use a tsp per large glass of water - I would err on the side of caution, though - try it, first, see how your body reacts... but, I did read a pretty good article, that you might like to see, too... http://www.md-health.com/Drinking-Baking-Soda.html.  Is definitely worth looking in to, and I see that drinking a glass of water with a little baking soda is a good cure for the common cold, and perhaps the flu, too?  I think I would try that... and a good way to improve performance in elite athletes?  I've never heard that, before... interesting, right?  Hmmm... food, and drink, for thought : )
