Obamacare, or, officially, The Affordable Care Act...First Day!

Wow, so it's the first day of the Affordable Care Act, or, as it's commonly known, Obamacare.  Why don't they just keep saying 'The Affordable Care Act' all the time, really get that message out there, maybe take away a lot of the political hype around what is really, better care for a whole lot more people in America. Most of the people I know have health care coverage through their work, so I'm pretty sure Obamacare, or, The Affordable Care Act, doesn't seem to affect them, directly. I would imagine you would just continue to choose your provider, get on with your life, take good care of yourself and your family, so you don't have to go to the doctor very often - I think that's what we tend to do in Canada, and maybe why our health care system isn't overwhelmed, or ludicrously expensive?  We've had a focus on Wellness for so many years - I can't even remember when it began, but a focus on Wellness is crucial to lower the costs of any healthcare system.

I have a few questions that I would imagine a lot of people have, today, the first day of Obamacare, or, of course, now we all know (lol!), The Affordable Care Act... it's very disturbing to me that people would actually be fined if they don't choose a provider?  what if they can't afford it?  That doesn't seem right.  And are the payments to the provider tax-deductible, because that would be a great idea, right? Is that a possibility? Maybe a portion of it is tax-deductible, under health care expenses?  I wish they had spent half the time discussing all the details of the new Affordable Care Act, so people could really understand it, rather than just publicize all the idiotic debates - seriously, droning on Dr. Seuss-style - how crazy is that?  That's no way to show an understanding of this very important step toward truly affordable healthcare for the whole country. (Oh, and I liked you to the Dr. Seuss website, just because it's fun, and you'll have a wee laugh! And laughter is the best medicine, right?  Next to drugs and whatnot! lol!)

I'm gonna keep watching this whole new movement, if you will, in the right direction so no one will have to go without medical care - seriously, in a First-World Country, no one should have to go without medical care, or go broke because they got sick, or be charged exhorbitant rates because they're already sick - that's horrible. That is not cool... no bueno, not at all, and if Obamacare, or The Affordable Care Act, can make some significant strides in the direction of solving this very serious problem, give it a shot. How is it working out in Massachusetts? I've never heard any complaints coming out of there, everyone seems super-nice and friendly, and healthy, so why not really study Massachusetts, see if they've worked out all the snags, come up with a workable solution.

In the meantime, I'll look for good rates for you, so you can see what's out there, what will work for you and your family. Okay, I gotta go check my spelling! lol!  Take Good Care of Yourselves (literally! lol!), and Be Healthy!  Ailsa xox
