#Getty Free Class Trips to The Getty Villa and The Getty Center - So Great for Everyone! #Teachers #Students #HuntingtonGardens #Gardens #ClassTrips

The Getty Villa in Malibu (Pacific Palisades), California - soo gorgeous, a great place to go, yourself, or with your family and friends : )

And if you happen to be a teacher, June 1st is the starting date to pop into the Getty Villa website to book a trip for your classhttp://www.getty.edu/education/teachers/trippack/index.html

I think there is a special category for Title I schools, too, so be sure to pop into the Getty site, see what you can get for your students - all sorts of lesson plan ideas, too, and there should be some good printables, too - I know I've gotten great teaching materials, right at the Getty Villa, in the Children's center - it's for 'children' of all ages! The young at heart crowd, if you know what I mean - lol! : )

The Getty Website has all sorts of Teacher stuff - you'll love it!

This is an incredible opportunity for your students, and one that may change their lives, forever.  The Getty Villa is so beautiful, and even just taking the bus, there - what a great class trip for you and your students.

There's a place for your students to have their lunch, and you can buy lunch, there, too - is a good idea to just bring their lunch, if possible.  Many schools will let you order school lunches through your school cafeteria manager - good to be friends with the school cafeteria manager, anyway - they're always really nice and helpful : )

For teachers, be sure to check and see what courses are offered for the summer, at The Getty Villa in Malibu (Pacific Palisades), and at The Getty Center, off the 405 in Los Angeles, California.  I've taken so many amazing courses, all free, I think - pretty sure - I took a lot of classes, sooo, a little jumbled in my mind, now, which ones I paid for, and which ones were free, but I'm pretty sure the Getty courses are all free.

Oooh, check and see what other courses there are at all the Art Galleries... LACMA (Los Angeles County Museum of Art) had amazing courses, and be sure to stay for the dinners that are provided, free of charge - they had THE best dessert - yum!

You'll come away with lots of great ideas for future lessons, and maybe meet some nice people.. and learn all sorts of interesting and amazing new things, yourself - you'll love it!  Oh, and the Getty Center off the 405 had fantastic breakfasts, too - and I think they were free, as well... wow, can it get any better than that?  Great classes, possibly a Free Trip for your students, and free breakfasts for you, at the courses?  Hope I'm not spilling the beans, here - lol!

The earlier you put in your request for a school trip, the better the odds are of getting to go to the Getty Villa or the Getty Center, or, possibly, both.  It's all worth a shot, for sure!

Best Class Trip, ever? Or did they have a bit of a ruff trip? haha! So cute!

Oh, and the Getty Villa and the Getty Center are amazing trips for anyone, any time.  Generally, you have to go online to book a ticket for the Getty Villa, just so they know you're coming, and you will have a variety of times to choose from, and I think admission is free, just pay for parking.

I know I've taken some courses at the Getty Center, where they handed out free parking passes, too - so, be open to all the freebies, for sures, and if you're at either the Getty Villa in Malibu, or the Getty Center off the 405 in L.A., and you have children with you, pop into the children's center - soo much fun - the kids will love it, too - bah'hahaha!

And if you want to take your students (or just go on your own!) to Huntington Gardens, which is beyond gorgeous, Huntington Gardens has a Free Day, and I'm pretty sure there's no fee for parking... the first Thursday of the month should be the Free Day, but check online, I think that's the only way to get your tickets, and you have to book in advance - plan well in advance, so you'll get your tickets - and if you're a teacher, you can see if there are any sources who might provide a free bus - worth looking into, for sure, and an incredible opportunity for your students

The Bachelorette - Could Amy Schumer be the next Bachelorette?? Yahoo! Me would looove dat! : )

INDULGE YOURSELF WITH A $250 GIFT CARD from The Cheesecake Factory *Upon Completion of Purchase Requirements

Kaitlyn and Britt, still together... such pretty girls.. I was really hoping they would have just let both of the girls to stay on The Bachelorette for the whole season, since that would have been interesting, right?  See where the men would gravitate, and maybe even develop a real relationship?  No, me not even jus' joking - a real relationship from the Bachelorette - lol!

And, holy schmoly - is it possible that Amy Schumer could be the next Bachelorette??  Omg, that would be soo great - we would laugh our way through the whole season - and not just ironically... lol! #DraftAmy

      It's Free to Look!

But here we are, the roses have been cast - occurs to me, would be hilarious if this is how we voted for politicians - a rose for one party, a daisy for the next, a thistle for the last (as in Thistle Dae' me... a li'l Scottish for ye, there - lol!)....OR, they could step into the present, and let people vote ONLINE - for real, why isn't this pushed, more??  There is always the whole argument that it's not secure enough online - how crazy is that? If you can bank, online, surely you can vote online, too - and then they'll finally get the young vote... and anyone else who likes to do things quickly, no 4 hour line ups (which is ridiculous) - just saying, if they can spend the vast amounts of money on political campaigns, they can take some of that money and make voting easier and more practical, to reach as many people as possible - and the traditional polls, too, of course...

Well, hmmm, off on a tangent, you say?  I guess so.... but I thought it was pretty funny that they didn't say how many 'rose votes' each girl got - and I am amazed that Kaitlyn is particularly interested in Mr. Creepy, who flat out told Kaitlyn he voted for Britt... wow, it's that old 'oh, I'm gonna MAKE him love me' trick - ha!  So far, so good, for that guy... Jared, maybe?

I haven't picked up their names, yet - except for the ones who are crazy - like when you're teaching, especially Supply Teaching, Substitute Teaching - you know - anyway, the first names you learn are the 'bad kids' - lol!  Steven!  Brandy!  These are the little names that come up, right away, of whoever is the most mischievous... (Those are just example names, of course... you'll just know some names, right off the bat, is all... those are just my little example names.. I'm sure all Stevens and all Brandys are lovely, lovely, people - lol!)

Oh, and I'm soo glad that they let the one guy go after Britt, and now it looks like they might have a lasting relationship - good for Britt!  I just want them to find love and be happy : )

Ooh, this picture makes me laugh - this is one of my favorite Amy Schumer bits - soo funny, is hilarious... and Sophie from 2 Broke Girls plays Amy's stage mother - omg, you're'a gonna laugh, if you haven't seen it, yet - Amy Schumer is on Comedy Central.

One of my favorite bits at the Comedy Club on The Bachelorette, last night, was the bit with Mr. Shady (JJ??  Man, when will I learn their names? lol!), the one who thinks he's smarter than 90% of the people in the room - hahaha!  Amy Schumer assures him that he has nothing to worry about, he's not smarter than 90% of the room - bah'hahahaha!  And he didn't get it, so that was even better... hahaha!  Oh, Amy Schumer, you are so very funny!

Oh, and speaking of that guy - he got a rose, mid-evening, I think - yuck, don't like him, at all - hate when the men have a very young child, and the Bachelorette thinks that's soo cute... hmmm, it may or may not be all that cute - at least ask why they are on their own with a very young child - where's the Mom??  Most women will do what they can to keep a relationship together when they have a very young child, so it always makes me question what happened, that they aren't together... usually a pretty significant event, or events, or actions, separated them, so I don't like when that is 'romanticized', you know?  Just ask - if it's sincere and normal, fine, go ahead and proceed, but if there's abuse involved, that should be vetted out, asap. And he lives with his parents - hmmm, so many red flags - and boasting...and aggressive... yick! Too Many Red Flags, Kaitlyn..

This just made me laugh... Chris Harrison, just a simple cherub, tryin' to make some more Love Connections... lol : )

This is the guy I like for Kaitlyn - handsome, seems really nice, normal, kind, interested in her... of course, I didn't pick up his name, either - lol! Ha!  What was I thinking about while me was a'watching The Bachelorette??

Now, why almost a half an hour devoted to boxing, for the ladies??  Or is it mostly a male audience, this time around, on The Bachelorette?  Too much boxing, like Too Much Tuna, but not nearly as funny... lol! (If you haven't seen Too Much Tuna, you gotta catch that - me loooves The Kroll Show - iz sooo funny!  Crazy-funny!)  I did love seeing Laila Ali, though - she's amazing... plus, I really, really love the name Laila, like any good Eric Clapton fan, right? lol!

Hahaha, this guy.  Holy schmoly - I think they forgot the question mark after Tony's age - 35?  Maaay-be... lol!

Or, Tony - Age?  New.  Bah'hahaha!  Me makin' mah'self laugh, today...

Okay, hope you have lots of lovely love in your life!  Or are out there looking : ) Ailsa : )

Best Mechanic in #Victoria #BC #Canada - How to Find a Great Garage for your Vehicle #CarRepair #Garage #Mechanic

Li'l Update: My Car Battery pegged out, the other day - or, wouldn't start, BCAA (CAA) came and gave me a jump-start.. little bit of a sexist explanation for me, to 'help me understand' how my battery would've lost it's charge... anyway, that was mostly about high heels getting worn down - uh, no - you can talk to me like a normal person - pretty sure the men aren't getting the'high heel' explanation...(He was a nice fellow, doing his job... and a little reminder to make sure you give lots of space to any tow-truck operator at the side of the roads - we were in our garage, but there are far too many accidents involving two truck drivers - slow down, give them lots of space : )

Anyway, we were told to go and get the battery charged at the local garage, so I went over to Gorge Vale, and totally felt like i was being ripped of - the ONE thing I despise when you're just trying to solve a problem with your car - wanting to run unnecessary tests, when, really, I should've just gotten a new battery...

So, cut to the next day, we drove away from that garage, and I won't bother going back - I don't like the wool being pulled over someone's eyes - that's not okay... you be honest, I'll be honest, let's get this done - jus' like a regular relationship - hahahaha!

So, yesterday, we went down to make sure the car would start, first, then took it around the corner, where we had accidentally seen a Battery Store, the day before that, when we were just driving to get the charge back up on the car battery, you know... and we had been told to do a highway drive, but, frankly, I didn't really want to leave the city limits when I felt like the car might not start, again...

So I was just following my intuition when we pulled into the Battery store... I was thinking I thought it might do car batteries, but at the very least, I felt like they were a little store, and more likely to be honest, which is all I wanted, yesterday...

So it's:

Island Batteries
Peter Bird

Victoria, BC, Canada

Toll Free: 1-888-385-8658
islandbatteries@telus.net
www.islandbatteries.com

Sooo nice! Friendly, so helpful - super-helpful - we got Peter, and we went and checked my car battery, I asked him if he knew a reliable garage, and told him a little of what had happened the day before, and he recommended Williams Garage (something like that, on Finlayson and Quadra, if you're in Victoria...), and then he said, you know what? I could change that battery for you - yay!!!!

I ended up getting the whole thing done for $160 - a great price, in Canada, and especially in BC (B.C. - the joke is, BC stands for Bring Cash - haha!)

We were soo thankful for Peter - that was so super nice of him to change our battery for us, so we went and got the ingredients for Shortbread, that Peter had said was one of his faves, came home, made a big batch of Shortbread, boxed it up and took it back over to Peter at Island Batteries - he was a Good Samaritan to us, and we were Good Samaritans to him - see how great it is to be nice? I loove that! And I reward Kindness - lol!

The other place where we had excellent service was at The Great Canadian Oil Change - they were fantastic, got all the fluids flushed and renewed, car feels like a dream! Yahoo!!

So it pays to be nice! (That's my bottom line! lol!)
Yum! That's a nice way to say Thank You, right? lol! Shortbread!

So I had to take my car in to get some work done, and I wasn't completely sure what needed to be done, but that little , very loud, crazy-loud, red light that looks like a little thermostat, came on in the car, right after I had gotten my oil change and car 'check up' for the summer, right?  And then this crazy little loud red light kept coming on, but when I was slowing down, or at a stop light... so crazy.  But that noisy little red light had to be taken care of, and asap...

But here's the thing when you're on your own, and female... or anyone who isn't completely sure what's going on with their car, but they just want to take it somewhere they will be treated well, treated with respect, (not spoken down to, like they're a mowon... that's not fun... and a lot of women know what this feels like...), and know and feel comfortable that the garage and mechanics are going to tell you the absolute truth about what needs to be done, and how much that will be... and not feel like you're being taken advantage of... you'd think that would be all garages, all shops, right?  Noooo, it's few and far between, so when you do find a great garage, you'll stick with it - better for you, and way better for your car : )

So I took my car, a Buick Rendezvous, in to get a new Water Pump, which I had researched online, like everyone does, now - and you should - it's better to Google whatever you think might be wrong with your car, so you can understand what's going on when you do get into the garage... you'll feel better, and feel like you can have an intelligent conversation with your mechanic, so you can both understand what you feel like you need and want, and they can let you know what all needs to be done - an even more importantly, what doesn't necessarily need to be done... that can save you a lot of money, and make you feel like you and your car are gonna be juuust fine : )

So, yesterday, after a lot of research, we took my car into Gorge Vale Automotive (www.gvauto.ca), and talked to Dave, the owner - (David Christison), and he was really helpful, very nice and a very reasonable person, which is what you want, for sure, so you immediately feel comfortable, right?  And then one of the mechanics came up to the Front Desk, too, Bob (who, it turned out, had also built his own house, so I got to see all the pictures of his recent build, and we had a great conversation... how often does THAT happen at the garage? lol!  That's one of my favorite topics, as you might know - I love building houses! lol!) ...

Anyway, so Bob the Mechanic was talking to us, too, and I felt very comfortable leaving my car for them to check to see what really needed to be done.  We walked home, since I thought we were 'just around the corner - turns out, 'just around the corner in the car is a really long walk on your own - haha!  They were soo nice, they came and picked us up so we didn't have to walk back to the garage... so nice!  Great Service, for sure!  AND, they washed my car, after the work was done - Thanks, Nigel!

So it ended up that I DID need a new Water Pump, and they changed out the Serpentine Belt, too (whatever that is... but glad it was changed out), and the whole thing, including the diagnostic fee, which Dave knocked back for me - wasn't that nice?  Thanks, Dave!  Anyway, the whole thing came out to $411. - a good and fair price, and I knew they had done a great job.

We were soo happy with how everything went, and how well we were treated, personally, and the car feels great, no more crazy ping high pitched sound from the thermostat going crazy...the problem is completely solved and fixed, so now Gorge Vale Automotive, over by the Petro-Canada Gas Station in Esquimalt, BC, will be our new home garage.  Yahoo, a Home Garage!  I love when I know exactly where I can take my car, and trust that the right things will be done, for a good price, and you know your car will be all nice and safe for you to drive - can't get any better than that, right?

I popped in and got some good deals for you, too, if you want to just go ahead and sell your car, or buy a new car - we love Autotrader - works like a charm... and then lots of deals on car parts and fancy things for your vehicle.. and Father's Day is coming up, and lots of dads love their cars - lol!

Okay, so if you're in Victoria, BC, and in need of a good mechanic, Gorge Vale Automotive is the place to go - they're fair, they're nice, they know what they're doing - and they'll even wash your car - AND, they have the best price on an Oil Change in the area - wish that's where I'd taken my car, all along, but am thrilled to find a new Garage Home, now - yippee!  Treated well at a garage! It's the best feeling!  Ailsa : )
