Make Your #FrozenEntrees Healthier - and Bigger! Oooh, and great for #WeightLoss, too! #EatHealthy #LoseWeight #Wine! #GeneralTao #Salad

Make Your #FrozenEntrees Healthier - and Bigger!
Oooh, and great for #WeightLoss, too! #EatHealthy #LoseWeight (Yippee!)

This is one of my favorites - General Tao's Chicken with Rice - on a bed of lettuce, and some Catalina Salad Dressing - there's something about the Catalina that makes this so tasty! Yum!

Really, I only buy the Frozen Entrees, Michellina, when they're on sale - it drives me up the wall when they're not on at a reasonable price - I won't support that, when a store, typically Walmart, will jack up their prices - very annoying.. but when the Frozen Entrees are on sale, that's a good time to stock up, right? And adding a little something else make the Frozen Entrees that much healthier, tastier, and much, much bigger! Yay!

Whatevs! You deserve some nice wine - I hear the red wine is really good for you - lol! It's all good! : )

Why not make your little Frozen Dinner into a huuge dinner - you'll love the mix of hot and cold, and the extra spice is always nice - lol! Yum! To Your Good Health! And no dinners that just make you sad - haha! So, is this a Happy Meal, then? Happier? haha! Enjoy!

In the States, I love the Stouffers (spelling?), but they're hard to come by, in Canada, for some reason... but those are my favorite, soo deelish! lol!

So, and go ahead, laughs if you wants to - the other day, I was soo hungry, all of a sudden, after working out, was in the middle of making the General Tao's Chicken, right, was in the microwave, 4 and a half minutes, I couldn't wait that long, had already chopped the Romaine Lettuce (usually I would just grab the regular 'bag o' salad', but it was s stooopid price, so I got the 3 pack of Romaine Lettuce, instead, and that was totally my lucky day, since I made this fancy(it's not fancy! haha!) discovery...

So, I had made the first section of the meal, poured the Catalina salad Dressing on the Romaine Lettuce, and ate a piece with my fingers, occurred to me, oh, yum, this is like eating chips (which me misses very, very much! Booo! haha! But, you know, me a'tryin' to lose about 30 pounds - this week - bah'hahahaha!))

Anyhooo, I ended up eating the whole plate of these 'Romaine Chips' - I use the word 'chips' very loosely, in a pathetic attempt on my part to fool mah'self into thinking I might be eating REAL chips - hahaha! Whatevs, you know the drill, when you're doing some kind of diet... bleah! Annoying! Why me no skinny like me used to be? haha! Whatevs, me do what me can... do mah' very bestest! (Mostly! Is mah' very bestest also having pretty much whatever me wants? Okay, good, then, me doing mah' very, very bestest, taking good care o' mah' body!) (And Mind!) (And Soul!) : )

So, now that's a new thing for me to have - and maybe, you, too! See if you like it! I would imagine it's good with any of your favorite dressings - the key is, literally, to eat it with your fingers, like chips - try it, see if that works for you, too! Good Luck!! : )

Yum, I love veggies, especially broccoli, and I think lots of people keep frozen dinners in their freezers - frozen dinners are great when you're in a hurry, or you've had a long day, and just want to make something healthy, really fast.  I love to have frozen food at work, too - is great to make a nice meal very quickly, and is usually a lot healthier than some other choices.  I always put it on a nice plate - I think making your food look nice is an important part of enjoying your meal, right?  It's nice.  It's good. : )

Aaand, these are great meals if you want to lose some weight, or want to maintain your weight... they're filling, because you've added the extra veggies, and good and healthy, so you won't feel like, "Aaaaww, is THIS what I have to eat, tonight??  Booo!!", which does not feel good to think - lol!  (Me feels like this, sometimes, when I've run out of my favorite General Tao Chicken, so I have to have a 'plain' salad, and then me feels sooo a'sorry for mah'self - is pretty funny, really, because I really DO love a good salad, but sometimes it feels like it's a'gonna do me in, that I have to have something far more exciting than a salad - and, so, the other night, we went for Fish & Chips down at the Fisherman's Wharf, and it was great! lol! See, it's all about the balance, right?  And your personal happiness : )

So here's a quick and easy way to 'health up' your frozen meals... just open the lid, pour in a bunch of frozen vegetables, whatever your fave veggies are, pull the cover back over, and pop in the microwave for about 6 minutes. You'll need the extra time to make sure the veggies are cooked, nothing's still frozen : )

Put your veggies on top of your frozen entree, microwave for 6 minutes - see how easy? lol!

Well, if you know me, and I hope you do (I hope you've made your way through lots of my little articles and posts, and maybe even my main website, http://www.buildyourownhouse.ca, which is jammed packed full o' fun information, and will show you everything you need to know to build your own house - lol! Thus, the name! haha!)...anyway, I love to 'doctor things up' - I'll change anything, from recipes to houses - hahaha!

So I add in some Parmesan cheese, salt, pepper and some lovely parsley. Yum! So tasty, and nice and healthy...AND, it'll double the size of your meal, and that's a good thing, too, not to mention add some more veggies in your life! lol!

Pretty good for a 6 minute meal, right?  Yum! And soo easy : )

And here it is with Frozen Macaroni and Cheese, add in the Brocolli, or whatever your fave veggies happen to be, pop in the microwave for 6 minutes, mix and add some spices that you like, and Voila, a nice, full, healthy Frozen meal - so easy!  And so delicious!

This is one of my favourite meals - for reals! lol!  I loove it!  Is just the right amount of spicy, with the General Tao's Chicken Frozen Meal (I only buy them when they're $1.00 - irritates me when Walmart doubles the price, and even though it's still only $2, it annoys me to think they can so easily double their prices, sooo, on principle, alone, me will only buy it when it's a dollar - lol!), then I love a bite of the chicken and rice along with the salad with Catalina Salad Dressing - is soo delicious!  I love that the rice is hot, the salad is cold, it's juuust the right amount of spice... yum!

Doesn't that look yummy?? Yum!  It IS crazy-delicious, you'll love it, and you'll be all happy, and be all nice and slim an' trim, too!  Yahoo!  Now me gots'ta get back to Walmart to pick up more General Tao's Chicken Entrees! hahahaha!

Well, cucumbers have been on sale for the last few weeks, so now this is mah' new fave combo meal with the Michelina's General Tao's Chicken (or any kind they have at your local grocery store : )

Anyway, tonight I had double that amount of cucumber, and put some Catalina Salad Dressing around the edge of the cucumber, then mix up the General Tao's Chicken, so the rice is all nice and whatnot, put that in the middle of your plate - yum!  It's just the right mix of spices, and the cucumber makes it nice and cool - yum!  And nice and healthy for you, too - and all for under $2 bucks!  Yippee!

And, today I was cutting up the Romaine Lettuce to put under the General Tao's Chicken Frozen Entree, right? But I had just finished working out, so I was all-of-a-sudden totally starving, had to eat something.. so while I was waiting for the microwave to beep, I poured some Catalina Dressing on the Romaine Lettuce pieces -

You know the 3 packs of Romaine Lettuce you can get in the Produce Section? Well, I had taken one of those 'hearts' of the Romaine Lettuce you cut the very bottom off, rinse well, then just kind of squish it together, cut 1 inch strips, all along the whole thing - anyway, I was so hungry that I just picked up a piece of the lettuce with the Catalina Dressing, was soo good, was like eating chips, sooo... anyway, I ended up eating the whole plate of lettuce with the Catalina dressing - was deeelish! Had to get out more of the Romaine Lettuce to still make a nice bed of lettuce for the hot rice - and then a little more of the Catalina Dressing - is a great flavor combo, is huuge, healthy and delicious - poifect!

Oh, ha! That reminds me of one of my favorite Knock-Knock jokes.. it's an oldie but a goodie:

Knock knock

Who's there?

Lettuce

Lettuce who?

Lettuce in, it's freezin' out here! (Now you're in Brooklyn! Hahaha! BuddaBingBuddaBang!)

Haha! Makes me laugh, every time! Is a great little joke for the 12 and under crowd, but I love it, too! hahaha!

Always look to make sure there are no pre-payment fees - that's the sign of a really good company, for sures : )  Then, you can pay the loan back as quickly as you can, and that's better for you, and could easily be a much lower Interest Rate than you will have on your Credit Cards, or other loans. You know I love saving money! Make it and save it! lol! : )

Mac 'n Cheese with Broccoli - doctor up your Frozen Entrees! Yay!

Now I'm trying another li'l thing out - haha! Whatevs... if it works, that'll be fantastic!

Fast and Easy!

Just put your broccoli floret side up, stem side down, in a small bowl, add a little water on the bottom of the bowl - pour in maybe half an inch, an inch, depending on how much broccoli you're cooking...

Anyway, here's my little idea - you're gonna cover the broccoli in the microwave, and microwave the broccoli for 10 minutes...

Then at the 5:30 mark, put your little package of Macaroni and Cheese (I looove the Stouffer's - yum!), pierce the top, of course, and I lifted one edge, just to be extra safe...

And then everything's done at the same time - another 10 minute meal - yippee!

Okay, so, here's the adjustmet:

Put your Macaroni and cheese on top of the plate of broccoli when it first goes in the microwave, cook for 8 minutes... easy schmeasy! Yay!

Isn't that pretty? I loove it! Pretty Delicious! lol! : )

Cold, Flu and Headache Remedies that You'll Really Like - and they work, too! : ) #Soup #Drinks! #HotToddy #GetWellSoon #ColdRemedy #BakingSoda #Arthritis

Home Remedies: Miraculous Cold, Flu and Headache Remedies : )
You'll be feelin' better in no time! (AND, you might like to have these year round, they're so yummy!)

You know what? I would try this Baking Soda Cure for Arthritis, too - that makes sense to me, maybe even for anything that ails ye', you know?

Experiment a  little, as long as you don't have any drug interference, and remember, never give Aspirin to anyone under 25, use Tylenol or any other safe pain reliever : )

Okay, here's my favorite new-to-me Cold Remedy, and is a very good cure for a Sore Throat, Headache, or the Flu (maybe that's just the combo of those first three? lol!)

Ingredients:

1 - 3 Aspirin (unless you're under 25, then Acetaminophen - Tylenol)

1/2 Teaspoon Baking Soda - maybe more - see how sick you're feeling...

1/3 cup Lemon Juice - or as much as you like : )

1 - 2 Tbsp Honey (I just pour some in - and, you use less sugar when you also use honey!)

1-4 Tbsp Sugar (again, to taste)

And if I had some Bitters, I would totally add some Bitters!)

Boiling Water

Directions:

Put the Aspirin and Baking Soda in a cup, add a little water to dissolve, add the Lemon Juice - it'll fizz right up, is all very exciting, so maybe the kids would like to watch? haha!

Add Boiling water, then the honey and sugar - you can just do either, or both, to taste : )

I have a little sip of the Cold Remedy, then some Tea, then a sip of water... and that's my 'See You Later Plate', for more Apple Crumble, which I may or may not (okay, I am, and totally) addicted to - haha! But, in my defense, is deeelishush, and very good for you, so, well... anyway, try it, you'll see what I mean! lol!)

And here's my fave Apple Crumble, in case you want to try it, now, too! And it's great for Weight Loss, too - that's what I initially developed it for - yum! I always have an Apple Crumble in the fridge!

Mr. Noodles Ramon Noodles with Chicken OXO, Parsley and one sliced Green Onion - Yum!  and you'll be better in no time!

Cure for the Common Cold: Okay, you got me - it's a Drink! hahaha!

Yum!! I mean, Oh, this will fo' sho' make me feel better! One way, or another! Hahaha!

I would try this with any cold or flu... anytime I was sick, or perhaps any evening... :) !!

1 oz. Bourbon -- I didn't have Bourbon in my vast 1970's Bar (there it is, again, with the 70's references!), so I used Whiskey, instead... Glenfiddich Scotch Whiskey...

8 dashes of Bitters (really, I lost count...! haha!) -- the Bitters has 47% alcohol! WooHoo! You're feelin' better, already! lol!
Honey to taste -- about a tablespoon or two...really, I just pour it in.. : >

Club Soda -- again, me no have no Club Sody, so I used 7Up, instead... and now I like Sierra Mist

And then I accidentally added in some 45 Proof Spiced Rum... and see, me all better, today!! Taa Daa!! (Picture me in a Gymnast Pose, right after not falling offa da horse thing! haha!)

Initially, stupidly, I made my fancy new Cold Remedy in a glass, but then, quel suprise, the honey wouldn't stir in -- I am far too used to throwing ice in a glass and addin' in da Fun! So, best to make thins in a microwavable cup... see how much you learn, today?? haha! I heated it for about 50 seconds... you want it to be like the temperature of tea or coffee... and then I liked it better with a 'Tea Chaser'... a little too strong to be fun to drink, but it really did work! (Plus, I am a Tea Jenny, so really, I have Tea with everything...!)

And here's my modification to my favorite drink... errrr, I mean, CURE for a horrible cold, or slightly scratchy sore throat, or some time in the evening, any night at all.. ;) lol!

Cure for the Common Cold: I would try this with any cold or flu... anytime I was sick, or perhaps any evening... :) !!

1 oz. Bourbon -- I didn't have Bourbon in my vast 1970's Bar (there it is, again, with the 70's references!), so I used Whiskey, instead... Glenfiddich Scotch Whiskey...

(New -- now I am all out of Whiskey and Bourbon, so tonight I tried the Hennessy, and it was deeelicious... hope it still works! haha!) (Who cares?? Now it's just a great drink!)

8 dashes of Bitters (really, I lost count...! haha!) -- the Bitters has 47% alcohol! WooHoo! You're feelin' better, already! lol!
(Who knows how many dashes of Bitters I'm putting in, now -- I feel like the Bitters are the magical ingredient... I'm pourin' the stuff in! hahaha!)

Honey to taste -- about a teaspoon or two...
(2 teaspoons of honey... must remember to Buy More Honey!)

Club Soda -- again, me no have no Club Sody, so I used 7Up, instead...
(Yes, I used the 7Up until that was all gone, and now I see that any lemony fizzy pop/soda will do...! )

And then I accidentally added in some 45 Proof Spiced Rum... and see, me all better, today!! Taa Daa!! (Picture me in a Gymnast Pose, right after not falling offa da horse thing! haha!)
(Turns out, this particular Spiced Rum -- Sailor Jerry -- is 92 Proof... sooo, I think we can all see how this quickly became my new favorite Drink -- I mean, CURE!! hahaha!)

Initially, stupidly, I made my fancy new Cold Remedy in a glass, but then, quel suprise, the honey wouldn't stir in -- I am far too used to throwing ice in a glass and addin' in da Fun! So, best to make thins in a microwavable cup... see how much you learn, today?? haha! (Plus, I am a Tea Jenny, so really, I have Tea with everything...!)

(Okay, this works waaay better: Mix all da alcohol together ( I forget and put in the honey, first), but be as smart as you wanna be with the whole Big Decision on when you put the honey in... but heat this tiny amount in your mug for 25 seconds in the microwave, and then take it out and pour in the 7Up or other lemony fizzy drink... deeelicious, and I have a feeling da bubbles do something special, which reminds me of an old joke about blowing Bubbles in the park, but I shouldn't talk about Bubbles without his permission... hahahaha!)

(This next one is a Great Immune Booster, so I would have it any time you were feeling 'under the weather' or whenever you had to recuperate from something... and tastes pretty good, too -- just add enough Honey and Lemon to suit your own taste buds!)

Lemon, Honey 'N Onion Drink

2 to 3 Onions, peeled and cut in Fourths

One Big Pot of Water

Boil the Onions for 1 to 3 hours to create the 'Onion Juice'.

Strain and put in a Jug in the Fridge. (I always cover it with Saran Wrap so it won't 'smell'...)

Per Cup: Pour 3/4 of your cup (any cup...) full of the Onion Juice

Pop in the Microwave for 2 Minutes on High.

Add 2 tsp of Honey. Stir well. (Admittedly, I think I use closer to 2 Tablespoons of Honey, which I realize now is the reason I didn't lose any weight while I was sick... much to my great disappointment! That's the only possible upside to getting sick -- you feel like you outta drop 20 pounds, just because you never feel like eating! lol!)

Add Lemon Juice to Taste (like you would add milk to coffee...)

My Daughter, Cara likes it (or will drink it if she's really sick!) when it has Orange Tablets in it, so I dissolve 2 or 3 Vitamin C Tablets into her cup. This is more palatable for children of all ages -- adults included!

Chicken 'n Onion Soup in a Cup

Use the Same Base for the Onion Juice.
Heat up 1 Cup of the Onion Juice. (About 1 - 2 minutes in the Microwave)
Add 1 Tablespoon Chicken OXO (or 1 package, if you aren't shopping at Costco and buying everything in Giant Containers, yet!)
(If you're in a big hurry, just cut up the Green Onion and put it in a Cup with Boiling Water and 1 Tablespoon on Chicken OXO.)
Chop up 1 Green Onion and put it all in the Cup of Onion Juice. Stir well and enjoy!

I first came across the Base of this recipe...guess where...that's right, on The View! Barabara Walters had a scratchy throat (not good in T.V. Journalism!) and shared her recipe from a friend who happens to be an Opera Star (!) for the Onion and Honey Drink. I was pregnant at the time, had a cold and didn't want to take any medicine, so I tried it and it was horrible! I just couldn't drink it, so I added more Honey and some Lemon Juice, and Voila, it's not only palatable, it tastes good!

I always drink it with a 'Water Chaser' -- a great big glass of cold water so the Lemon Juice doesn't dry out your throat.

Oh, I thought I would be 'pro-active' with this remedy, so I chopped all sorts of Onions up and put them in a big bag in the Freezer. Well, I won't do that, again, because they smelled awful, and the smell spread to other things in the freezer. Now I just leave the onions in a paper bag in the cupboard. No smell, much better!

I woke up, a while back, with a really sore throat, so I immediately made my Onion Drink -- that stuff is a miracle in a cup! I feel better, already, and I've only had one cup. Dwight hates the smell of the Onion Juice 'simmering', so I quickly took out the Onion Juice (I strain it into a giant Bowl with an equally giant sieve!), then covered the container with plastic wrap and popped it in the fridge. Luckily, I was already planning to make Turkey Soup, today, so I replaced the onions into the Big Soup Pot and added all the 'Turkey Parts' -- you know the parts(!), and some spices, so he'll never be any the wiser! ha,ha! And I'll get better!

I'm gonna have to go make a whole new page for the Onion, Honey 'N Lemon Drink, so you won't hurt your wrist scrolling down to find it! ha,ha! I'll get right on that!

Green Onion and Chicken Raman... everyone likes this, and it's Fast 'n Easy...

Boil water for Raman (Mr. Noodles... whatever it might be called at your grocers!)
Break noodles and pour in water
Add 2 chopped Green Onions -- cook in microwave for 3 minutes, add 1 tsp. of Chicken OXO (Chicken Flavoring)
If you really, really want to get better, add 2 more chopped Green Onions... and I like a wee bit o' Parsley with it, too :) Enjoy and Get Well!

Everybody loooves Chicken Noodle Soup when they're feeling down, and this is one of my favorites!

Wiggly Chicken Noodle Soup - yum, this looks soo good - think I'll make this, today!

I like to call this my 'Green and White Chicken Noodle Soup' -- it's very pretty, for a Soup!
So this is my favorite new Chicken Noodle Soup, and I wish I'd thought of this years ago, so I thought I'd tell my lovely Readers about it, so you can add it to your Favorites List! The Kids love it, too!

Wiggly Chicken Noodle Soup (for full directions, go to Chicken Noodle Soup... yet another page in my site!)
Fill a big soup pot half full of cold water, bring to a boil...
1/2 Package of Tortiglioni Noodles (the curly ones!) (or Egg Noodles, or break linguine, fettucine or spaghetti noodles in 1" bits before cooking...)
4 Heaping Tablespoons of Chicken OXO
6 Tablespoons of Dried Parsley Flakes or a Bunch of Fresh Parsley, Chopped
Celery Stalk (whole thing), Diced
1 Onion, Diced
4 - 6 Green Onions, chopped

Stay Healthy! Ailsa! : )
