Dis me! Omg, I love turkey!

Turkey with Balsamic Olive Oil

(Or, just go with Any Oil, Olive Oil, Extra Virgin Olive Oil -EVOO, or whatever oil you have in the house, and Your Favorite Spices - you can't go wrong with a Turkey - lol!)

This turkey couldn't be any easier to make, and is craazy-delicious... your family and friends will loove it!

Start with a thawed turkey (good idea! lol!). (Buy your Turkey a few days in advance, and you can always thaw out your Turkey in a sink full of cold water, the night before you cook it : )

Clean thoroughly and remove the stuff from inside it... it's in the 'back', if you can't find the little bag!  Rinse the turkey, again, in cold water. I usually cut up an apple and an onion, put those in the turkey cavity... we make our stuffing separately, for extra safety : ) Put the turkey in a very large baking pan, so the whole turkey fits...

Oh, and this is usually the part where I used to be too squeamish to cook a turkey - I couldn't handle 'cleaning it out', so-to-speak... but, now, they have the 'extra stuff' in a little bag - sometimes, 2 bags, so make sure you remove whatever's inside your turkey - and then give the inside and the outside of your turkey a good rinse... and you can cook the inside bits, if you like, or just toss them out - I toss them out, but you get to do whatever you want to do, right? lol! Hello, Freedom of Choice! haha!

Pour the Balsamic Olive Oil all over the turkey. (You know what? If you don't have Balsamic Olive Oil, any oil will do a nice job, really... : )

Lightly Salt. I like Seasoning Salt, and a little Montreal Steak Spice, too!

Pour some cold water into the pan -- about 1 inch of water should do it... the turkey will produce it's own juices...check it periodically, though, add a couple more cups of water, or as needed. (I've never had to add more water - and you don't have to keep basting your turkey - it seems to me that a whole lot of cooking myths are old wives tales, and you know me no can be bothered with misinformation, or anything that is old fashioned, and no longer necessary or true... you can just put in the water at the beginning, cover your turkey in a nice tin foil tent, unless you happen to have a gigantic roasting pan with a lid, that completely covers the turkey... but you just want to make a nice tent out of aluminum foil, tin foil, starting on one side, make sure it goes right over the top of the turkey, hopefully not touching the top of the turkey, and make sure to seal it all around the edges...)

Cover with tin foil (aluminum foil), and pop in the oven at 350 Degrees for 5 - 8 hours, depending on the size of the turkey.  Most turkeys come with a very convenient little pop up button, so you now it's done, for sure, when the button pops up : ) (Or your guests pop up? haha! Noo, give them a wee drink, they can wait - worth it! lol!)

Take the tin foil (aluminum foil) off the turkey for the last half hour to hour... really, I hardly ever time anything... I just have a wee look at it every now and then, take it out when the turkey is ready!  I'm a very casual baker!! lol!

Oh, and speaking of that, being relaxed and easy... there's no need to constantly baste the turkey.. I put it in the oven, go read a great book, watch a great show, go have a schnooze... whatever you like to do, then go look at it again when it's almost done... it's a turkey, it can't go wrong :)

Enjoy your dinner!! Happy Eating!! Ailsa xox

Oh, and don't forget to make your deeelish Mushroom Soup Sauce - just 2 or 3 cans of Mushroom Soup, add a little bit of milk (just a little - about 1/2 a can), cover and pop in the microwave for about 6 minutes - yum!

We looove the Mushroom Sauce on our Turkey, Potatoes and Veggies - and then have some on your leftover Turkey Sandwiches, too - and add in some leftover stuffing, too, you will loooove it!! So good!!

That's me, tonight... (I'm the blonde one in the picture! lol!) We just had this for dinner... soo crazy-delicious! It makes the house smell amazing.

Sarsly (think Jimmy Fallon - haha!), am I ALWAYS in da kitchen, carrying trays o' delicious food? No, sometimes I'm in da living room, eating it! Or Reading - or watchin' mah' fave TV and Netflix shows - lol!

Hello, again!  lol!  Well, it's Thanksgiving, in Canada, so it's another delicious Turkey and Cherry Cheesecake Day - yahoo!!! Always a great day - a day all full of YUM!!

So here's how I did the Turkey, today... just grab up some veggies, and chop them roughly - not in teensy tiny bits, just big chunks, because you're not gonna eat anything that's been inside the turkey - nope, those days are gone! lol!  Now your Turkey Dressing has to be made separately, no matter what yer mom says - hahaha! : )

This is a nice little stuffing mix to pop into the turkey - will smell deeelicious, and taste great. Quick and easy, no problemo : )

Will take you a couple of minutes - big chunky pieces, you don't even have to core the apple... and pop them into the turkey cavity. (Oh, empty that, first - hahaha! Ick, I know!)  I put some extra onion and potatoes that wouldn't fit around the outside. and squished in a few potatoes around the edge. Pour on about 3 to 4 cups of water (I used 3 cups, this time), and tent 'er up, after your oil and spices are on : )

Well, I canny get my cursor below the turkey picture - how weird is that? lol!  So just pour Olive Oil all over your turkey, rub it in, sprinkle with Seasoning Salt, Parsley, Montreal Steak Spice, or whatever your favourite go-to spices are...

Yay, your turkey is all ready to go camping...in da oven! (Sorry, turkey!) Pop in the oven on the bottom shelf, all the rest of the shelves can be removed, depending on the size of your oven, and your turkey.... bake at 350 Degrees F. for about 8 hours, removing the tin foil tent for the last hour. There's no need to go and check it every hour - just unnecessary. Go read, watch some football, or maybe some stuff you've got saved up on yer DVR! lol! Or Netflix! : )

If you want to, you can baste the turkey in it's last hour, but if you want a nice, crispy skin, maybe skip that, too - it's your turkey, do whatever you love the mostestest

Oh, and have a Cheery Cheesecake, too! I link it fo' you! I made mine with my gooorgeous daughter, Cara, yesterday, so I just have to put the cherry topping on, today - easy schmeasy : )

Oh, and just in case you're super-jealous that the turkey gets to go camping, and you don't, here's a gorgeous place where you might like to go camping, one day - this is in Tofino, BC, Canada, a nice drive from Victoria, where we live, now (Victoria is crazy-gorgeous, too!), on Vancouver Island, just off the coast of Vancouver... come and see us! lol! You'll love it! (P.S. there are no turkeys in those tents - bah'hahahaha! Might be a couple o' jerks, but who's to say, right? Jerks like camping, too... noo, me a'jokin'... I love camping, is lots of fun - or you could just stay in a hotel, go look at this sort of lovely view during the day, be all comfy at night - and a hot shower - hahaha!

Okay, go enjoy your Turkey!! Ailsa : )  (In case you want to pop in and see my main site, www.buildyourownhouse.ca)

Aaand, my favourite part of having turkey for dinner, is having turkey in a Toasted Turkey Sandwich (sammich!), the next day - and if you've never tried putting some leftover stuffing in with your turkey sandwich, you are in for a treat, my friend! lol! Yum!!

I am soo done with my cable bill - $180/month???  Whatdahell?, as James on Big Brother would say - lol!  That's too high - so unreasonable... I love these new companies that are giving us real options, so you can still watch all your favorite TV shows, and easily save sooo much money... is the best!

No Cable. No Dish. Just KlowdTV.HD Stream. No Contract. Cancel Anytime.Stream on you desktop, mobile, tablet or TV.HD Stream. No Contract. Cancel Anytime.

Live streaming TV packages starting at $6.98/MonthThis is so cool - let's say you've now been binge watching your fave shows, and you STILL have 4 more seasons left of your brand new-to-you show, soo you don't want to get up off the couch, but, also, you know you should probably get you' some groceries?

Problem - Solution! lol!

Check and see if your area is covered by either VONS or Safeway... they cover some of the same areas, and some different areas - does that make sense? lol!

I loove this Delivery Service for Groceries and whatever you might need, right to your door, just in general, but what a great idea in bad weather, no more stooopid traffic, or if you're not feeling up to going out to the store, or you just don't feeeel like going out to the store...or if you're like me, and get so caught up in whatever you're working on, and don't want to stop just 'for food' - haha! And no need for Taxis, if you need to take a cab to the grocery store...that's a huge savings, right there, right?

Wow, Grocery Delivery Service - that's fantastico!! Yippee!!  Hello, Future - you look great! : )

I think this is such an amazing new service for your groceries - and anything you ever need from the grocery store - if you've ever had a time when you had a tiny baby, or you're super-busy (same thing - hahaha! All the New Moms will be laughing, now - lol!)..but if you're busy at work, or busy at home, or traffic, or you're busy binge-watching your favorite shows - hahahahaha! This might be the new wave of the future, right? Ordering your groceries online?

And I would imagine you would save a lot of money, since you would just buy what you actually need... might really work for dieting, too, since, well, if we're in the store, and be 'we', I mean 'me'...anyway, let's say I've got my grocery list, then I'm at the store, and I think, you know what, I'll just nick down the Candy Aisle, see if Chocolate is on sale (see how much I like Sale Chocolate - hahaha! Is it tastier, or just less expensive?? We'll never know! It's all gone, now - hahaha!)

Not that you couldn't just 'browse' for that, anyway... right? Me thinkin', now, o' course, where is the Sale Chocolate, online?? hahaha! But let's say you're you, and not me, and you have a LOT more self control than maybe ME do... so you order all the things you really wanted, and not just a whole cart full o' Wunderbars, on sale... hahahaha! Wouldn't THAT be fun - just a cartful of Sale Chocolate?? haha! Okay, clearly, me needs a treat! lol! : ) #SaleChocolate! Ha!

Shop Gifts Under $10 from See's Candies!Create your own Custom Chocolate Mix at See's Candies!  Okay, this is MY kind o' Luxury Reward - me always 'reward' mah'self wit' da delicious chocolates! hahaha!  I loove Sees Candies - soo deeelish! The Walnut Squares (#43 - is it bad for me to know the number?? hahahahaha!) (I've got your number..oooh, is it #43??  I hope so! lol!) Ooh, and I see that Sees has a sale, right now, Take $4 off of $20? Yahoo! Sale Chocolate - yes, please! haha! Yum! Don't mind if ah' do...lol! : )

So here's one laaast little bit... so now we're in Canada, right, but we still love to celebrate the American Thanksgiving, too (as well as the Canadian Thanksgiving - lol! We've got the best of both worlds!)

But here's the thing - it's VERY hard to find a Turkey out of season, in Canada, for some reason - you might find one or two (for real, one or two, sad little lonely turkeys, all alone in the freezer section of your grocery store - lol!), and they will be an insane price, unlike the usual price for a turkey around the regular holidays in Canada... anyway, if you're in BC, you can still find turkey 'bits', I call them, at The Fairway...

Anyway, if you have not been able to find a turkey, and find yourself with Turkey Legs, Turkey wings, Turkey Thighs (yum!), just go ahead and arrange them in your giant Turkey Roasting Pan, and go ahead with your regular meal... it'll be delightful, no doubt! I just popped this dinner in the oven - looks so pretty, already! Our favorite new thing is to throw the potatoes right in there with the meat, let them cook all day, will be beyond delicious, you'll love them! So Deeelish!

Enjoy! Happy Thanksgiving! Happy Turkey Day, whatever day you're having a delicious turkey! : )
There we go - that's the turkey when I put it out on the table, tonight - yum! Hope you're having a wonderful meal! : )

Brussels Sprouts! Yum!

OMG, this is one of my favorite parts of the meal - instead of boiling your Brussels Sprouts, wash and cut them in half, use some of the turkey juice, and some butter, saute your veggies - you could do Green Beans the same way, too, or Asparagus... but usually we have Brussels Sprouts - ah'yum!!

You want to flip each of them over, so they have that lovely crispy bit on every piece - so delicious! Yum! : )

And here's a VERY nice Brussels Sprouts Recipe - super-easy, so delicious - you and your family and friends are a'gonna loove it! Yum!

How To Thaw A Frozen Turkey

Ah, this is what I need to do, tonight, to thaw out my turkey.... is okay to do, our Moms have been doing this, forever - put your frozen or thawing turkey right in the sink full of cold water. By the time you get up in the morning, probably early, to get the turkey on in time, since, really, you want to cook your turkey for about 6 to 8 hours... those turkeys are huuge!

But your turkey should be thawed at least enough for you to get the little package of stuff out - yick! The only downside of making a turkey, and one I couldn't get past until I was well into my forties - lol! Yikes! ; )

And then, the greatest of all days, Turkey Sammich Day!!! (Days and days and days! lol!)

See the leftover Mushroom Soup Sauce in the corner? Yep, use that like mayonnaise, or any other spread, but you'll looove the Mushroom Soup Sauce on your Toasted Turkey Sandwich - ah'yum!

And then add your leftover Stuffing.... lots of salt, pepper if you love that, too - it's all to taste, baby!

And now for something completely different (hello, Monty Python! lol!), More Great Deals For You!
